Q - Do you make conservatories to order?

A - Yes-every one of our conservatories is made to measure and can be personalised with a host of accessories and design features both inside and out.

Q - Our neighbours aren't friendly - how can we protect our privacy?

A - Conservatories can be made private by the thoughtful use of obscure glass, solid side panels, blinds or even a solid wall on one side.

Q - There are drains in the way?

A - These needn't necessarily present a major problem. Often it is just an inspection chamber that needs to be moved slightly or raised and capped off within the floor of the conservatory. In some cases more extensive work may be required, but this is all done during the initial groundwork stage and any relevant approvals obtained.

Q - How soon can we have our conservatory?

A - From placing the order to commencement usually takes around 4-6 weeks. Once started, the build is 3-4 weeks unless a particularly involved structure is required.

Q - Can I use my conservatory all year round?

A - Modern conservatories, with insulated bases and cavity walls, which feature double-glazed units and a thermally efficient roof, can be used all year round. A good use of heating will also help. Comfort levels can be further enhanced through glazing which is specifically developed to keep conservatories warm in winter by retaining heat, and cool in summer be excluding solar radiation.

Q - What sort of heating is available?

A - Depending on the structures orientation (see below), there are three main types:

  • Conventional radiators: The general all round choice. Installation costs can vary though depending on the existing system and proximity of available feeds.
  • Underfloor heating: Becoming ever more popular as it does not take up any wall space and is lovely underfoot. The same installation variables do apply though.
  • Electric radiators: The simple and cost efficient choice as they plug straight into a power socket.

Q - Will Wood grain finishes fade with time?

A - Most of the products are guaranteed for a full 10 years against discolouration and delamination of the specially bonded wood-effect finish.

Q - Do we need Planning Permission or Building Regulation Approvals?

A - Please see page on Planning and Regulations (This will take you to another website)

Q - North, East, South or West?

A - The positioning of your conservatory will influence the ambience of the room at particular times during the day. In general the following applies:

  • North facing: subjected to the colder side of our climate but enjoying some morning sun. Good insulation and heating will be required.
  • South facing: The warmth of a conservatory on the sunny side of your property will be appreciated by both people and plants. Sufficient ventilation and thought given to solar control products will help to keep the room at a comfortable temperature during really hot spells.
  • East facing: Benefits from early morning sun, making it an ideal breakfast room.
  • West facing: Fairly well lit at the start of the day and benefits from the warmth of the sun in the afternoons and evenings-perfect for entertaining and dinner parties.
